The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf and the follow-up to the Volkswagen Golf Mk6 is the compact car known as the Volkswagen Golf Mk7. Before being unveiled to the general audience at the 2012 Paris Auto Show, it was revealed on September 4, 2012, in Berlin.
The Golf R is available as a 3-door hatchback, 5-door estate, or both. It is driven by a 2.0 liter, 300HP, 380NM petrol turbocharged engine.
It is available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG transmission. With Launch Control, DSG can go from 0 to 100 in less than 5 seconds, which is around 0.5 seconds faster than manual.
Haldex's fourth-generation 4MOTION four-wheel drive technology has been modified for the R. The rear axle is decoupled when there are light loads or when coasting.
