The BMW X5 M, a high-performance variant of the X5, made its debut at the New York Auto Show in April 2009, wowing audiences and capturing the attention of car enthusiasts worldwide. This impressive vehicle hit BMW dealerships by September 2009 and quickly became a top contender in its class, competing with other high-end vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG, Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. With its launch, the BMW X5 M boasted an impressive title, holding the title of the most powerful car in its class.
One of the most notable features of the BMW X5 M is that it's the first xDrive all-wheel-drive vehicle produced by M GmbH, joining its sibling, the X6 M. Despite its power, the BMW X5 M doesn't skimp on practicality or utility, offering all the features and functionality of a regular X5 while also featuring a V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine. The engine is a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8, capable of producing 547 bhp (408 kW; 555 PS) at 5,750 rpm and a peak torque of 501.2 lb⋅ft (680 N⋅m), available between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. Notably, the S63 engine is a high output variation of the N63 power unit.
